On Wednesday, July 16, DCOTA welcomed the next generation of design professionals for a full day of learning, connection, and behind-the-scenes access to some of the most influential showrooms in the industry.
Student Day brought together design students from across South Florida and beyond, including FIU, Istituto Marangoni and SCAD for a curated campus experience, offering an inside look at the tools, technologies, and trends shaping the future of the field.
Participants toured a selection of premier showrooms, including Crestron, Gloster, Pierre Frey, Baker, and Madeval, with live presentations and expert guidance from brand representatives at each stop. From smart home systems to sustainable textiles and heritage furniture design, students experienced firsthand the diverse offerings that define DCOTA.
Midday, students gathered for lunch at The Cay, DCOTA’s on-site restaurant, before continuing to an afternoon of showroom visits and a collaborative tote bag-painting activation hosted by Zero Empty Spaces artist Milda Aleknaite and Sherwin-Williams.
Each session was designed to spark curiosity, encourage dialogue, and offer practical insight into the design industry’s evolving landscape.
DCOTA extends its sincere thanks to the participating showrooms and speakers for their generous time and thoughtful presentations. Student Day is part of our ongoing commitment to education, mentorship, and the continued growth of South Florida’s design community.
Stay tuned for more events and educational programming as we continue shaping DCOTA’s next chapter—where inspiration, access, and innovation meet by design.
