This past January, the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) proudly partnered with Istituto Marangoni Miami to host “Meet the Designers,” a vibrant showcase celebrating the creative talents of emerging interior design students.
Held on January 23rd, the event offered a unique platform for students to unveil their innovative design concepts and connect directly with industry leaders, design enthusiasts, and fellow creatives. From mood boards to full-fledged room designs, guests had the opportunity to explore the inspirations, techniques, and narratives behind each student’s work.
As part of the showcase, the student-designed chairs were displayed in vignettes at DCOTA for two weeks following the event. During this time, guests and visitors were invited to vote on their favorite chair. The winning design—Medusa—was awarded a $500 scholarship, generously sponsored by Sherwin-Williams. The winner was officially announced on February 12th during the Istituto Marangoni Open House.
The evening also featured a lively cocktail hour set against the elegant backdrop of DCOTA, fostering meaningful conversation and connections across the South Florida design community. Attendees left inspired—not only by the creativity on display, but by the bright future of design these students represent.
DCOTA remains committed to fostering educational opportunities and supporting the next generation of visionaries shaping the world of design. We look forward to continuing to provide a space where creativity and community can flourish.
Stay tuned for future events and student spotlights!
